The Carnivorous Plant Society is a registered charity in England and Wales no: 281423
Stephen Morley’s open day is popular amongst growers as one of the most northerly events in England.
Stephen has a medium-sized collection, mostly based around Sarracenia, but with a good sprinkling of many other carnivorous plant genera including Darlingtonia, Pinguicula, Nepenthes, Cephalotus, Utricularia, Drosera and Dionaea housed in an 18′ greenhouse and a cold frame. The garden is well planted with non-carnivorous species, and in most years is open for charity, so there are other plants to see for those with wider tastes. There is a good range of carnivorous plants for sale, and one of the features of this open day is that many visitors bring their plants to sell as well, so there is quite a lot of active trade going on and a huge variety on offer. Stephen supplies snacks and refreshments, there is a visitors toilet, and plenty of parking in adjacent streets in the village. Families and dogs are welcome.
